Project: All Bi Myself
My friend and fellow University of Auckland student Elana Tkatch asked if I would be one of the set photographers for the web series she was producing as part of her Masters of Screen Production. The series, All Bi Myself, follows Mia, a young woman who comes out as bisexual after being in a committed heterosexual relationship for many years. Mia must deal with her religion and family as she learns to accept her sexuality in the 21st century.
I was set photographer for a day’s shoot inside the “dungeon” of Auckland’s infamous Family Bar on K Road. Photographing was tricky as the lighting was dim and completely artificial, and not helped by the fact that we had a smoke machine going. I was also unable to use my flash due to interfering with the filming. Being a part of this shoot for a day was an awesome experience which I would happily do again. The series will be showing later this year, so for more info head over to the Facebook page.
